Madame Grés & NYT

Here's a wonderful image of Madame Grés' Black Velvet dress from our archives, exhibited in our first exhibition, "Paris Night Looks" in 2022. Besides being able to order this sewing pattern at the department store or mail ordered through Vogue Pattern Book, you could also order the pattern directly from the New York Times newspaper by sending your postage and writing to their department, "Patterns of The Times." This is from NYT Nov 9, 1957, family/style section. Seeing different images of the dresses from various sources is always interesting.
