A look inside the Elizabeth Taylor gown


The inner corselette is boned, but what's fascinating is that this dress has an under-bust stay made from either a grosgrain ribbon but more likely, an elastic band, that's been threaded through thread chain loops, sewn onto the boning channels. The dress had a tiny waist but wasn't supported with a waist stay. Bohan often used elastic in his designs, and to my surprise, there are other Bohan designed gowns without a waist stay as well.
