Does the Word “Corselette” Belong in the Fashion Lexicon?

Corset or Corselette? The word Corselette is used to describe a foundation garment or an undergarment designed to shape the body or support the design of a dress and is often met with confrontation, correction, or confusion. We should not be ashamed of using this word: women have used corselettes since Dior popularized them. Corselettes are not only for youth; a 1953 advice article from Woman’s Own suggested using them during one’s mature years. Corselettes are part of historical couture sewing and belong in the fashion lexicon.
